Vision Statement: Tea Parks and Recreation will be an elite community recreation program through its commitment to affordable, high quality and diverse opportunities that further personal enrichment for the citizens of Tea and surrounding areas.

Mission Statement: The mission of Tea Parks and Recreation is to foster lifetime involvement in and appreciation of activities that promote the physical, social, intellectual and cultural well being of the youth and families of Tea. To accomplish this, Tea Parks and Recreation will research, plan and implement high-quality leisure activities that promote a healthy lifestyle and instill self-confidence, good sportsmanship, civic responsibility and pride.

Goals and Objectives:

1. To provide opportunities for all youth of Tea to participate in high-quality leisure activities.

A. Tea Parks and Recreation will strive to partner with local businesses, as well as seek out funding through grant opportunities, in order to establish and maintain affordable participation fees to ensure that every child who desires to participate in its programs will have the opportunity to do so.

B. Tea Parks and Recreation will engage families by organizing diverse programs throughout the year that will provide opportunities for direct participation, volunteering and spectating.

C. Tea Parks and Recreation will actively pursue cost-effective means of promoting programs and events in order to attract a diverse group of participants.

2. To promote self-confidence, to advance skills and to foster positive relationships and attitudes.

A. Tea Parks and Recreation will provide coaches and parents with the tools necessary to teach both the rules and skills of a sport, ranging from basic knowledge and foundation to the advanced skills necessary to be competitive with youth in surrounding regions. These tools will include parent/coaches meetings, clinics led by individuals with in-depth knowledge of their sport, and training media.

B. Tea Parks and Recreation will provide coaches and parents with the education and support necessary to be nurturing role models and to use positive, encouraging teaching techniques that will promote a lifetime of good sportsmanship, self-confidence and team building skills.

C. Tea Parks and Recreation will support the interests of the community by seeking out opportunities and innovative programs that will challenge the physical, cultural, social and intellectual development of its youth in order to facilitate a lifelong appreciation for sports and leisure activities.

3. To provide recreational activities in a safe, positive environment.

A. Tea Parks and Recreation will work in cooperation with the City of Tea, Tea Area Schools, local businesses and philanthropic organizations to secure funding for new and updated facilities, equipment, supplies and program sponsorship in order to allow participants to reach their full potential while maintaining their safety.

B. Tea Parks and Recreation will strive to ensure that volunteers are adequately trained and have undergone background checks.

4. To use sound management practices in the establishment and maintenance of its programs.

A. Tea Parks and Recreation will provide effective and efficient leadership to develop and maintain high-quality programs in a dynamic community.

B. Tea Parks and Recreation will work to maintain the orderly growth of its programs and will work with other community organizations to reach its goals in a cost-effective manner. This will include exploring a variety of possibilities for using existing natural and physical resources in the expansion of programs.

C. Tea Parks and Recreation will practice fiscal responsibility by maintaining accurate financial records and making sound financial decisions.

D. Tea Parks and Recreation will foster open communication and actively seek resident input by maintaining a public website and encouraging ongoing program feedback.
